As a venue that hosts events where music is played, we are required to adhere to these regulations and ensure that the appropriate licensing fees are paid.

Here’s a brief overview of what SOCAN and Re:Sound fees entail:

SOCAN Fees:

SOCAN collects fees on behalf of music composers, songwriters, and music publishers. These fees support Canadian musicians by compensating them for the public performance of their music. SOCAN licenses cover various uses of music, including live performances, background music, and music played through digital platforms.

Re:Sound Fees:

Re:Sound represents performers, musicians, and record labels. The fees collected by Re:Sound support these individuals and organizations by compensating them for the use of their recorded music in public settings. This includes music played at events, on radio, in businesses, and through digital services.

Please note that these fees are not determined by The Villa, but rather by SOCAN and Re:Sound directly. The fees are based on factors such as the size of the venue, the type of event, and how music will be used during the event.

At The Villa, we strive to ensure compliance with all legal requirements while providing you with a seamless and enjoyable event experience. As such, SOCAN and Re:Sound fees may be included in your booking agreement.
