aglc guidelines
AGLC policies help you with duty of care and prevention of foreseeable harm. Please read and understand your responsibilities as a licensee. It is understood that The Villa bartenders will adhere to the following practices and guidelines.
Minors (a person under 18 years old)
- Minors may attend your special event.
- Minors must not buy, drink, sell (includes liquor tickets), or serve liquor, or have it in their possession.
- If a person buying or drinking liquor looks under 25 years old, the bartenders will check the person’s age by asking for valid government-issued photo identification.
Intoxication
- Bartenders will not serve or sell liquor to individuals who appear to be intoxicated by liquor or drugs.
- Bartenders will not permit intoxicated individuals to drink liquor or have liquor in their possession.
Supervision and event management
- A licensee must not permit illegal activities at your event. A licensee must report suspected illegal activities to the police.
- Licensee, or Event Staff can ask guests to leave the event if they are causing problems.
- Supervisors and bartenders will not drink liquor.
- You must provide responsible supervision. One supervisor for every 50 guests is recommended.
- Step in quickly to prevent problems between guests. Give directions calmly and clearly.
Hours of service
- Liquor may only be served between the hours specified on the liquor license. Consumption must be finished no later than 3:00 a.m., unless otherwise approved by the AGLC Regulatory Services Division.
- Last call for alcohol will be 30 minutes prior to closing the bar.
- I understand that attendees must finish consuming liquor no more than one hour after liquor service ends.
Liquor supply
- You must purchase liquor for the event from a licensed liquor store, produced at a Ferment-on-Premises facility, or homemade wine, beer or cider.
- The police or AGLC Inspectors may remove unauthorized liquor, and you may be charged under the Gaming and Liquor Act.
- You must retain receipts for liquor purchased for the event.
Attendance and advertising
- You must not have more guests than is listed on the maximum occupancy load for the facility.
- Advertising must clearly say that the event is for members and invited guests only. The event must not be open to the public.
Inspections
- You must allow police and AGLC Inspectors into the event to perform inspections.
Licensee Responsibilities
- You must post the Special Event License in a noticeable location for the entire event.
- You must ensure the event complies with all liquor laws and policies. Go to aglc.ca for complete policies.
- All Alcohol must be removed from the premises immediately after the event by a designated person who has not consumed any alcohol.
